History

Visionary engineers Ing. Juan H. Vázquez and Ing. Eusebio Iglesias, PhD, founders of Iglesias Vázquez & Associates, were among the first in Puerto Rico to recognize the shift from hand-drawn blueprints to AutoCAD-digitized designs. Seizing this opportunity, we fully digitized our engineering workshop. As colleagues across the island sought guidance, Vázquez and Iglesias began assembling computers, installing AutoCAD, configuring specialized plotter printers, and training professionals office by office. The demand quickly grew.

What began as an effort to modernize our own practice soon revealed a broader opportunity. In 1986, we established a new company in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Our deep understanding of technological transformation became a mission to help businesses across the island leverage technology. The name Computer Paradise reflected our commitment to expertise, trust, and the belief that the right technology can transform any business.

In the late 1980s and 1990s, we expanded our retail presence by opening two locations across the San Juan metropolitan area, in addition to the existing store in Caguas. These sites served as technology destinations where businesses and consumers could experience new innovations firsthand. As personal computing became essential, we established each location as a hub for discovery, expertise, and reliable guidance.

Yet as the decade progressed, a powerful new chapter began to emerge. By the late 1990s, our growing reputation for technical excellence attracted something far bigger than retail customers—major government agencies and leading banking institutions began awarding the company large-scale computer rollout projects that demanded a higher level of expertise, project management, and strategic execution. These landmark engagements marked a defining turning point, accelerating our growth in consulting and professional services practice and signaling a decisive evolution from retail technology provider to enterprise solutions partner.

In the early 2000s, we made one of the most defining decisions in our history: we exited the retail business to focus entirely on becoming a premier enterprise IT services and consulting firm. Our retail stores had introduced many Puerto Rican businesses to technology and served their purpose well, but our vision had shifted.

Backed by credibility from major government and banking projects, a skilled technical team, and a deep understanding of enterprise needs, we left our retail identity behind and re-emerged as a dedicated technology partner for business clients. This transformation marked a significant evolution in our business model, signaling to the Puerto Rican market that we were now the trusted authority for critical technology solutions. This pivotal change shaped everything that followed.

While most IT companies in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean focused on traditional physical servers, we took a forward-thinking step by becoming the region’s first VMware partner. We further distinguished ourselves by having two VMware Certified Professionals (VCPs) on our team. At a time when virtualization was largely unknown in the region, this achievement established us as a leading authority on a technology that would transform the IT industry.

Although server virtualization was not yet mainstream and market skepticism was high, we recognized its potential to revolutionize enterprise infrastructure. This milestone not only set us apart but also laid the foundation for our future leadership in cloud computing, hybrid infrastructure, and software-defined data center technologies.

In 2005, Juan H. Vázquez Rosa, son of founder Ing. Juan H. Vázquez, became President, ushering in a new generation of leadership while honoring the company’s founding vision and entrepreneurial spirit. Under his leadership, the company accelerated its transformation into Puerto Rico’s leading enterprise technology partner, achieving a significant milestone soon after.

That year, the company became the first VMware partner in Puerto Rico to deliver a large-scale virtualization project, deploying VMware solutions on IBM System x460 servers for Triple-S, a leading healthcare organization. This project served as a key proof of concept, demonstrating the real-world potential of enterprise virtualization. The project’s success clearly showed our ability to deliver effective virtualization solutions for complex enterprise environments. As a result, organizations across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean sought our expertise, positioning us for future leadership in cloud computing and hybrid infrastructure.

From 2006 through 2012, we invested heavily in the capabilities that would define us for the next decade. We assembled an elite team of highly trained system specialists and engineers with advanced expertise in VMware virtualization, Storage Area Networks (SAN), data center blade infrastructure, enterprise networking, disaster recovery, and infrastructure consulting.

During this period, we also introduced a specialized engineer outsourcing model that allowed enterprise clients to bring our experts directly into their most complex projects. That combination of deep specialization and flexible engagement models positioned us as the go-to authority for infrastructure modernization across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, earning the trust of Fortune 1000 organizations and mid-market enterprises that needed a partner, not just a vendor.

On November 6, 2013, at exactly 10:28 a.m., we took a pivotal step and officially rebranded from Computer Paradise to CPCORP, Inc. The change was more than cosmetic; it was a declaration of who we had become. We had evolved far beyond a traditional computer solutions provider into a comprehensive enterprise IT systems integration firm.

With CPCORP, we signaled our commitment to delivering advanced solutions in virtualization, cloud infrastructure, networking, and business continuity for enterprise clients across Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Central America. Our new identity aligned our brand with the sophistication, scale, and responsibility of the work we were already doing every day.

From 2014 to 2016, we advanced enterprise networking and cybersecurity by introducing clients to data center micro-segmentation and software-defined data center firewalling, both of which soon became industry standards. We also expanded our networking portfolio with campus networks and enterprise-grade WiFi solutions throughout Puerto Rico.

By enabling organizations to build faster, more secure, and scalable connectivity, we reinforced our reputation as the trusted technology authority for enterprises seeking to anticipate the evolving digital risk landscape.

In July 2017, we inaugurated our dedicated Technical Support Center (TSC), a state-of-the-art facility designed from the ground up to deliver 24/7 proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and expert technical assistance for enterprise clients across Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Central America.

The TSC quickly became the operational heart of our managed services portfolio, enabling us to monitor complex infrastructures in real time, intervene before small issues became outages, and serve as an extension of our clients’ IT teams. With this milestone, we moved from being a project-focused integrator to a long-term operational partner, responsible not only for designing and deploying solutions, but for keeping them running every single day.

After Hurricane María’s devastation, our team quickly activated disaster recovery and business continuity plans for our clients. We helped organizations restore critical systems, recover vital data, and resume operations faster than expected. For many, our support meant the difference between prolonged downtime and a structured recovery.

Instead of simply rebuilding, we transformed. We relocated our headquarters from Caguas to 400 Avenida Américo Miranda, Alianza Building, Suite 702, placing ourselves in a more central and connected location in the San Juan metro area. We also expanded our Technical Support Center to provide enhanced 24/7 monitoring and incident response. During one of Puerto Rico’s most challenging times, we stood by our customers and emerged stronger, more committed to supporting the island’s digital future.

If resilience had a defining year for us, it was 2020. Puerto Rico faced a punishing one-two punch: earthquakes at the start of the year followed quickly by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Offices closed, teams scattered, and operating models were reinvented overnight.

Yet throughout the uncertainty, our multi-regional Technical Support Center never missed a beat. We monitored, protected, and supported our enterprise clients without a single interruption, even when some of those very organizations could not physically access their own facilities. What had begun as a strategic investment in resilient, distributed infrastructure became our most powerful proof of concept. In 2020, we were more than a vendor; we were a lifeline that helped keep critical institutions running when everything else stood still.

With nearly forty years of enterprise IT experience, we have focused on one of Puerto Rico’s most vital sectors: healthcare. Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers (330), and healthcare insurers face increasing cybersecurity threats, regulatory demands, and urgent digital transformation challenges.

To address these needs, we introduced our Healthcare Digital Resilience Services, a comprehensive portfolio that integrates HIPAA-compliant data security, Electronic Health Record (EHR) infrastructure on Nutanix hyperconverged platforms, and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) designed for clinical environments. By combining our infrastructure expertise with a strong understanding of healthcare workflows, we serve as a specialized local partner dedicated to safeguarding systems, data, and the continuity of patient care.
